Exporting blog from .com to .org

  I am trying to export all of my content from my wordpress.com account to my new domain hosted at bluehost.com where I have installed wordpress.org. The export seems to go normally and is downloaded into my download directory on my desktop computer. However it is supposed to format the download in xml or wxr format. It doesnt. It seems to download with a file extension of php, so when I attempt to import to my new site it tells me that I am trying to import a file that is not a wxr or xml file. Is it possible that my download tool that is attached to Firefox is altering the format of the download?

  Hi kentwarrenmcdonald,

  I assume you have read the Moving a Blog support doc, but I wanted to include it, just in case: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

  You mentioned thinking there might be an issue with Firefox. Have you tried the download on another browser, such as Google Chrome? I would try that first, if you haven’t already, and see if the same thing occurs.
