Exporting Media
-
Hi, i’d like to close my blog. However, I want to download all of my media first. My computer was stolen and I lost all of my photos. :(
I tried the data export and tried to transfer it to wordpress.org – my new blog. But it only saved a few photos. I tried the media download as well. But each time it says it failed. I would SO love any help that I could get. -
Hello there. Remember that, if your site’s privacy is set on Private, your media files will not export properly during a regular export. So you should set your site as Public before begin the export process.
I tried the media download as well. But each time it says it failed.
You should be able to download all of the media content of your site using the Export Media Library option. But note that if your media library is very large and/or you have a slower connection the download might time out before it completes. Also remember that downloading your media library like this you’ll only have the file in your computer. The .tar archive downloaded cannot be imported to another site, the best is to use the Export tool. To know more about it, read Export.

My site is set to public. I’m wondering if it’s just the connection. What should I do about that? Is there another way to get the connection not to time out?
