Exporting of large website, import hanging

    I am working with a client who has a WordPress.com blog. This is a very large website with hundreds of high quality (large file size) images.

    I have exported the XML and have spent over 2 days trying to import (on a WordPress.org website) to no avail. I am guessing I only have about 3% of the images uploaded. I have tried splitting the import up by month and even week but nothing seems to be helping. The website I am referring to is http://hautenomad.me .

    Is there a better way to do this? My import seems to be timing out. I wish there was a way to download everything through FTP and then import a copy of the SQL database.

    Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
