Exporting widgets, themes, pages, etc. from WP.com and uploading to Bluehost
-
Hi there! I have managed to export my database and upload to my new Bluehost location, but I have lost my theme, pages, widgets, etc. in the process. I also have lost my email followers. From what I can tell, I need to be able to download these items individually from WP.com and upload them individually via FTP at Bluehost, but I can’t find a place to download from WP. When I export, all I get is an .xml file that I can’t extract the theme from. Does that make sense?
How can I transfer all components of my WP.com blog to my new Bluehost site?
Sorry if this question has been asked before — I’ve seen many similar ones, but still get stuck when it comes to finding an answer.
Thanks!

Hi Mary – You can only transfer your content from WordPress.com, not your theme or your widgets. However, you can buy a version of your theme that can be uploaded to your Bluehost site here:
http://graphpaperpress.com/themes/gridspace/Your pages should have come through with the other imported content – if any are missing, try the import again.
For your followers, I can move them for you. Can you please confirm that I should move all followers from runwithitdotcom.wordpress.com to http://minutespermile.com/ ? Thanks!

ah, ok. that’s what i was afraid of! it’s a shame that i paid $75 for my theme just a few months ago… and now i have to purchase it again?
yes, that is the correct destination for followers. thanks so much!
i already re-created the pages through bluehost, so no big deal on that one.
thanks again!
