exposure for a basic invitation only blog

  • Unknown's avatar

I have done this because I really don’t want to be on search engines and all of that, at least at this point, and have sent out invitations to friends whose email addresses I have. And anyone can email me at (email visible only to moderators and staff) with ghostpoet23 in the byline and I will send them an invite to check out my work. It’s just a hobby I’ve been doing for years that I finally decided to start sharing for free; my objective was never to make money at it, even if i could. I’ve joined other interesting blogs to follow, but I’m asking for help in how to get the word out there with just a basic free blog because I don’t plan on spending money to upgrade and I’m totally new to blogs. Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome…thank you

  • Hi there. This forum is only for specific technical support questions, not blog promotion. Blog promotion in the forum is considered spamming.

You can see here for tips in increasing traffic to your blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/ However, keep in mind that as long as your blog is private you’re going to struggle to get new readers. Consider perhaps setting your blog to public, but just select the option to not have it indexed by search engines. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Lastly you can also post in the Community Pool on the staff blog The Daily Post to promote your blog, but again you will probably not get as big a response as if your blog was public: https://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/community-pool/

my apologies about the accidental spamming…I’m just a newbie trying to figure things out. i’ll take your advice and change those settings; thank you kokkieh

  • No problem at all. I realise you’re new, so I didn’t report it. You don’t have to worry :)
