Expound HELP!

prioritychevrolet.wordpress.com
I am trying to get the homepage of my site to look like the example in the Expound theme page (http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/expound/)
I have made a “featured post” and made it a “sticky post” as well.
I have gone into Settings – Read View and set it to display the most recent posts on the Homepage.

What exactly do you want to do?
If you want to get the photos/images to show on the home page, you need to set a feature IMAGE. You’ll find that under the categories box on the right side of your Add New Post page.
-
Yes, I did the feature image thing too…nothing…I don’t know if I’ve set up some of the menus wrong or what but it’s not working. I’m happy to give you my login info if you wanna get in there and set it up right.
-
No… that would not be a good idea. I could be a total wacko.
I have this theme too, so I might be able to talk you through it.
How many posts do you have ready to publish? You’ll need at least six to make it look right. One thing you can do, is set the site to private until you get it set the way you want it.
Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Site Visibility.
Choose the private setting, then only you can see it.

You don’t need to make them sticky, and you only need a featured image if you want the photo/graphic to show on the homepage.
If you simply publish each post, they will line up like the demo, in chronological order. It may be that you’re making this much harder than it has to be.

last question, i promise!
right now, it’s working ok…but i wanted my thumbnails (featured images) displayed horizontally like on your page…right now mine are being displayed vertical.
-
You can set how many posts to show on your homepage (“Blog pages show at most”) and how many posts will show on your RSS feed if someone Follows your blog (“Syndication feeds show the most recent”).
-
That all depends on orientation of the original image. Most of my photos are landscape (horizontal) instead of portrait (vertical.)
-
i meant mine were stacking on top of one another while yours are in a nice horitizonal line.
look at my page and you’ll see what i’m talking about

Ah…. try this.
Right now, all the posts are labeled “Uncategorized.” Add categories and tags to the posts. Simple keywords that search engines will pick up. Categories should be generic, and tags more specific. Category = Truck; Tag = Silverado (or something more appropriate) Don’t use more than 15 combined. With categories and tags, less is better.
-
Also make sure you’ve set the Format to Standard.
You’ll find that on the right column of your Add New Post page.

by george…i think i’ve got it!
thanks for your help.
what dimensions do you use for your featured images?
-
Great!
Featured photos should be a minimum of 460(w) x 260(h). I go as wide as 680 on my photos.
