Expound theme – remove featured images
-
Hi, on my private test blog, I am unable to remove the featured image section at the top. I removed the ‘feature’ tag from the Customize section, to no avail.
Thanks.

I don’t believe you CAN. IN themes that use featured images, if you don’t put a featured image in, you get a big empty block. You’d need to edit the CSS to get around that.

I have been able to remove the featured images on Expound theme in the past, which is not too long ago. The posts just simply stack up in rows, instead of showing up in column of 4.
-
Could you try to remove the “featured” tag from the posts where you’ve added it? Once you’ve done so, the Slider should disappear.

Hi, I have removed the featured tags from the posts as well. In fact, I totally deleted the featured tag from the Tags section.

9 of your posts still seem to be using the “featured” tag. You can view these posts and remove the tag by going to Posts > All Posts in your dashboard, and clicking on “featured” in the “Tags” column.
You can then edit each post to remove the tag.
I hope this helps.

My bad. I can see the problem now. It seems you found a bug! I reported it to our theme team, and I’ll get back to you when it’s fixed.
Thanks!

I’m following up to let you know the theme developers reviewed this issue and determined the theme is working as expected. They also noted that Expound users are already relying on the current behavior, so it’s something to avoid changing if possible because of that.
If you would like to hide part of a theme’s built in design (such as the featured area in this case), then you may use the paid upgrade and add custom CSS to modify the built in theme design.

Hi. Thanks for the update.
I’ve been using Expound for a while now. I think I will be totally fine if the makers of Expound could priority and fix two things: responsive header image (so it equally works well on small devices); and make the Related Post links at the bottom of each post behave like how it behaves on other themes.
I have both of these issues opened with you guys already (I understand that header image solution is a challenge). Other than that, Expound is a fine theme.

Those are great suggestions!

In that case, someone should get back to you about those issues in the forums threads or email conversation where you brought them up.
Cheers :)
