Expound theme troubles
-
First: the featured post has big ol’ white gap between the title and the sentence.
Second: I don’t want the featured post option, I want the posts listed vertically down the page like at http://girlsheartbooks.com/contact/ . I don’t have a featured tag, never have.
The blog I’m dealing with is http://travellingcronetest.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It looks like the blog you are having trouble with is set to private. Could you either make it public for a bit, or invite me to be a viewer just for the time I need to help you?
Thanks!

Ok, I think I’ve invited you LOL, let me know cause i have never done successfully before.

I’m in. Thanks for the invite.
Unfortunately, I’m stumped. I see the look you are going for at http://girlsheartbooks.com/ but I’m guessing that was achieved with some help from the Custom Design upgrade. Here’s the closest thing I’ve been able to come up with.
1. Set a “featured” tag. I’m thinking “welcome” but it doesn’t really matter.
2. Write a post without a featured image welcoming people to your site and giving them an overview of what they will see, etc.
3. Never use the tag (or sticky posts) again. Then the rest of your posts should show up like you want them too. The result would look something like this:
I’m going to tag this thread for staff assistance in case there is a bug in the theme, or I missed something. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Thanks for trying. What do you think is wrong with the top post, with the gap between the title and the intro?
I actually thought about entering a feature tag and then never use it and did that but it made no difference. :( Hope the staff can help cause I really like this theme but not this feature.

I think that probably has to do with the formatting of that particular post. Try making this post your featured one:
http://travellingcronetest.wordpress.com/2014/05/14/no-fun-vancouver/
and see if you still have a problem.
If not, go back to the currently featured post, open it for editing and check out the formatting on the “text” tab. My guess is you’ve got some extra html or other code in there that isn’t showing up on the post page but is causing problems on the front page.

Hi there!
I’ve found the problem, and it seems to be the formatting in the excerpt you’ve entered into the post that’s causing it not to appear:
<h3>This edition will be more along the lines of a typical 10 best things to do in Vancouver during the summer :)</h3> <em>FYI: These are in no particular order, it was hard enough to just pick 10!</em>If you remove the h3 and em tags, the big white gap should be replaced by the excerpt right after. Let me know how it goes. Thanks and good luck!
