Extend footer widget – DARA theme

Hi there,

Is there a way that I can put one image in the footer widget and have it extend across all 3 widget areas? I am using 3 widgets for the footer but would like to add a landscape image across the top…

I see that your WordPress.com site https://kendalunitarians.com/ is using Dara theme.

I am afraid it’s not possible to show an image (or any element) across all three footer areas.

This would require changes to the theme’s template files and that’s not possible unless you are on the WordPress.com Business plan.

I am also tagging the post with “modlook” for the WordPress.com staff’s attention. – They can verify I am not being wrong here.

Hi @saimma, are you wanting the image above the widgets, or are you wanting it to replace widgets horizontally? I have a couple ideas, but need a bit more information on how you want things. Also, if you have uploaded the image to your media library, can you post a link to it so that I can see what it looks to help me determine if I can do it?

Hi @saimma, and thanks for the link and info. Give this a try and then test on all your pages, and on a phone and tablet if you can. It all looks good to me in my testing, but it is best to make sure. Due to the way the footer widget areas are done on Dara, we can’t do this in a widget, but we can insert the image as a background and space the widgets down. See what you think.
