external hosting and wordpress hosting

  I see how to do hosting via wordpress.com,/and the premium/business ect options
  and the features it opens up

  But what if i have hosting with for example go daddy, and a domain with them too.
  what features would i get.. ? and now because i have my hosting i am assuming i can choose the ads?
  I would love to know the difference between going which ever way for hosting and domain name

  If you have hosting at Godaddy, you’ll be using the open source wordpress.org, wordpress.com and wordpress.org are 2 completely different and unrelated systems, https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.
