External URL Link Auto-Converts to WordPress Blog
-
Hey there. On my website, when I post any link that has one of my blog categories in the url, like the following:
https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/
https://wordpress.com/xwing/It auto-embeds this blog:
https://teamcovenant.com/general/xwing
This is causing a lot of issues as people are sending private messages to external links, and those links are becoming a link to that blog instead.
Can you explain more to me about this behavior and/or how to fix it?
Cheers,
Steven -
HI there,
On which site is this? You don’t own any sites on WordPress.com via this account.
Additionally, it’s completely impossible that you’d have anything at https://wordpress.com/xwing/, as you don’t own the wordpress.com domain, and we don’t offer subdirectories like that for use by users.
If your links are being converted on a self-hosted site, it’s likely a plugin you installed on that site that’s doing it. We have no access to or control over self-hosted WordPress websites, so we’re not able to help with this.
Maybe someone in the WordPress.org forums will be able to help, but they’ll need more detailed information that you provided here, including the address on your site where you’ve added these links.

Sorry for the lack of clarity!
I think I am in the wrong place. I’m looking for help with the WordPress install on my website. Seems that .org is the right place for that.
Thanks!
