Extra Dot Com added in URL

    Hi there,

I just started a WordPress blog a week ago and noticed that instead of what I had type to be my blog’s name i.e. http://www.thehauteur.com it shows as http://www.thehauteurdotcom.wordpress.com. I do know that I did not write the extra dot com in there and this seems to be a reoccurring issue for WordPress based on my google searches for a solution. Also, I did select the premium upgrade where I can buy my domain name so that will take into affect in another week. How can I remove the dot com? Btw, I am not tech savvy and do not know anything about “mapping”. Thank you for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t have a URL like http://www.thehauteur.com/ at WordPress.com without buying a custom domain and domain mapping upgrades. If you just type in “whatyouwant” in the domain registration process originally you get whatyouwant.wordpress.com. You can’t get whatyouwant.com without the upgrades I mentioned above. The underlying whatever.wordpress.com URL doesn’t matter once you do that.

Thank you for explaining. Yes, I do know that whatever.com can’t be obtained with the buying the domain. What I didn’t understand was why that extra dot com was added i.e. whateverdotcom.wordpress.com. But in any event, I was able to resolve it. Thanks again.
