Extract latest post…

  I am in need of some help, I have been looking to find a way to extract say the first 100 words of the latest post on my word press blog and then, put that on a page for a word press content div to than link to that post.
  I was wondering if this was possible as I have done a bit of a search but have come up with nothing yet!
