Extreme slowness and not responding

I’ve been trying to change the title of my blog to a new name by going to Appearances, then Header, then Site Identity and clicking to edit the name of the blog, but it keeps getting stuck, giving me the blue circle of death and ‘not responding’ messages while I’m typing. Any suggestions as to why this may be happening and what can I do about it?

It almost sounds like your browser is unhappy about going to, or using functions in, that part of WordPress. Try a different browser than you usually use.If that works then we know that your browser is the culprit. It could also be you have Javascript disabled. Some Adblockers will interfere with some WordPress functions as well. All those topics are addressed here:

Thanks for your suggestions. I checked JavaScript and it is enabled. Tried Google Chrome browser but still the same problem.

Tried Firefox, it was a bit faster on there but still slow. However, I have now managed to change the name and tagline on my blog, so success! Thanks for your help.

You are welcome. I am glad you got it done. One other thing occurred to me, if you are on a wireless connection it might help to refresh the connection.
