You can not upload your theme here on wordpress.com you’ll have to chose one of those 170 themes available here.http://theme.wordpress.com/
Wordpress.com is different from wordpress.org where you can upload theme of yours.

Oh, I had no idea there was a difference, no i’m totally confused as to what to do.
I have a wordpress.com account and now created a wordpress.org account.
Only .com has the software from what I can see to change the website.
I will se how I go on .org. sorry for the confusion, I though you were all the same -
Wait. Creating an account at WordPress.org doesn’t mean your blog is a WordPress.org one.
http://naturalphotographyoz.wordpress.com/ is a wordpress.COM site. You can’t add external themes to it; all the themes you can use are on your dashboard under Appearance. Why not try to get a refund for the theme you purchased but can’t use, select a theme here you CAN use, and just get started blogging.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have found the .org is much more flexible than .com so I am in the process of making the move. the theme I wanted was free and im not happy having a .wordpress.com url anyway.
I should have read more before signing up. Had no idea there was two sites, same names and such a difference in systems. Thanks everyone.

If the only reason for moving is the “wordpress.com URL”, you can map a domain to a wordpress.com blog. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/ -
