Facebook and Twitter followers count

  I found the number of followers for my blog and it includes a couple hundred Facebook and Twitter followers. Does this actually mean that all those people actually went to my blog and clicked the follow button (although I’m pretty sure it doesn’t since I didn’t get such notification), or does it automatically add anyone on my FB friends list even if they never go to my blog?

  I have the same question. I don’t even have that many friends on Facebook!

  I think the Facebook friends indicated on your site stats page refers to the number of friends/fans you have on Facebook. And this number is recorded if you’ve connected your blog to Twitter through Publicize:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#facebook
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#facebook-pages
