Facebook as a referrer to my blog?

i rarely ever went to my Stats page in the past and only now am beginning to try to figure it out. I notice that there is a spot called REFERRER and a line that says: “facebook.com/l.php?u=http://peregrine… 4 views.”

    1) How could Facebook refer me? I once joined Facebook for fifteen minutes and then scrambled out of there fast. I asked them to delete all traces of me. So how could Facebook be a referrer?

    2) Also, it includes my name “peregrine”.

How could Facebook be a referrer? Or maybe I just don’t understand what Referrer means.

Facebook account deactivation is not the same as account deletion – in the case of the former all your private information you uploaded and later removed is still in the database, and it is still available to third party apps providers and advertisers as well.

    Re: Facebook account deletion
If you want to leave Facebook the crucial step is to not use your Facebook account for 14 days after you’ve requested deletion. The slightest interaction with Facebook and the deletion is canceled.

That includes NOT logging in to Facebook using any client (app.), and NOT clicking embedded Like-buttons on other blogs or websites, and NOT logging in to other services using Facebook Connect (like Digg) etc. Source: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=16929680703

Well, when I asked Facebook, I made it very clear with wording something like:

Please delete my name and all traces of my ever being here from Facebook. Make it as though I never joined Facebook at all.

Prior to sending that request, I deleted all the photos, all the everythihg, such that the Profile had no information in it other than my name.

    Ahem.

What you are seeing is a NORMAL link from Facebook. See the part before your name that says “http”? That means it’s not a referral from your profile; it’s a referral from someone else’s to your website. The only part of this that contains your username is the URL of the blog, which you can see is part of the referrer link.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with your Facebook account, if any. Somebody posted your link to Facebook and somebody else clicked through it to your article.

You should: other people are pointing people to your blog! Congrats!
