You are posting to the wrong support forum.
We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackHowever, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

I don’t quite understand this response…
I am using YOUR wordpress.COM app desktop app for mac, using whatever login to get in and work on my site.
My site is connected in some way so that I can work on it through YOUR wordpress.COM app, and I run into this error when setting up the sharing social media accounts by logging into them via YOUR wordpress.COM app.
Naturally I hit the help button, and click “Contact Us”. I enter my question and hit submit- I am not given a choice to choose what forum or who this question goes to, so I assume this is a “catch-all” forum that should be able to answer the question of an error happening within their own app with a help button that I used.
Are you saying that I should not be looking for help with YOUR wordpress.COM app in the help section of the app itself? Sounds like the contact us button may need to be modified or removed if that is the case

As a first step, please try clearing your default browser’s cache and cookies:
If the trouble persists, try deleting and reinstalling the app.

@ chrisrudzki
I cleared all browser cache and cookies, and reinstalled the app, but the problem still persists.
Could it something to do with how your app talks to Facebook?

Hi there,
Can you try visiting this page:
https://wordpress.com/sharing/www.archerxusa.com
Then click the “Connect” button there for Facebook.
Also double-check that third-party cookies are enabled in your web browser by visiting this page:
Let me know how you go.
If the problem persists, try disconnecting Jetpack by deactivating the plugin and then activating and reconnecting to WordPress.com again.
-
Visiting the page via safari and connecting social media accounts through it worked. Looks like it may be an issue with the app that is causing the cookie problem.
Accounts connected for now, but the cookie error still exists. This just means that I need to use an actual web browser instead of the app to connect social media.
Thanks!
-
Great! It sounds like this is mostly resolved for you now. Once you’ve connected to social media networks you won’t need to do it again so you can continue doing your publishing through the apps instead.

Hi @abursonthomas, did you happen to check to see if third party cookies were enabled?
We have not been able to reproduce this yet so I do think it’s a setting on that side. We’d need to figure out what it is.

Hi there,
It happens when you use the Desktop app on a Mac, right? Just to clarify the steps, do you go to Sharing in the app then click the “Connect” button and the error message pops up then? Or do you sign into Facebook first? I can’t reproduce this with my own self-hosted site so let me know if I’m doing something different to you.
-
@rachelsquirrel That is correct, I go to Sharing, then Click “connect”, try to sign in to FB with my credentials via the pop up and then the cookie error appears when I hit sign in.
-
Thanks for the clarification. I can also reproduce this problem now! We’ve submitted a bug report to get it fixed. Thanks for the report!
