Facebook doesn’t let me post links from my Squarespace site, but mentions my now deleted WordPress blog

  Hi,

  In 2019, I shifted to a Squarespace website (www.berationable.com) and set up a redirect from my WordPress.com site: rationable.wordpress.com.

  However, whenever I try to post a link from my Squarespace site to Facebook, Facebook says it violates community standards but then shows ‘rationable.wordpress.com’ as a reference to the site that it has a problem with.

  So, I deleted rationable.wordpress.com. But that’s still not changed Facebook’s behaviour. It still thinks my WordPress site exists and refuses to let me post links from my Squarespace site. Squarespace tells me to report it to Facebook, which I have but I’ve got no response. So now, I turn to you.

  Is there some code embedded somewhere on my Squarespace site or here on WordPress that I need to get rid of for everything to be alright again? What do you think is the problem and how do I fix it?

  Your help would be greatly appreciated!

  Hello,

  Facebook creates a database of various URLs that they don’t want to be displayed due to some type of violation, etc. I know it is frustrating, but really they are the ones that you will have to deal with on that. It can take several requests to get them to remove your site from that database. I know when I have dealt with this issue in the past, I found just changing domain names was a lot easier. Something for you to consider if possible.

  Hi John,

  Thanks for your help. I am super frustrated as it is. I’ve been trying to get them to pay attention since I’ve reported it many times over the last several months but I get absolutely no response from Facebook. That’s why I thought I’d drop in a question here.

  Changing domains?! Okay, I’m no million-dollar site but it’s taken a lot of hard work to get my SEO up to decent levels here. Sigh.
