These are the video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/
See here for the videopress upgrade which allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ But note that if you upload your own videos to youtube or fileden, etc. that you don’t need to purchase the upgrade.Flash embeds are not allowed, with the exception of some specific shortcodes. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
For a Flash workaround see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/ -
actually, when I click on the link, it plays the video. What my aim is to show a box with an arrow that will play the video just like YouTube. I tried using the URL in adding the media and this is what showed up.

Is the video from a source that WordPress.com supports or not?
supported sources are: YouTube, Vimeo, Hulu, Flickr, DailyMotion, Viddler, Blip.tv, TED Talks, Educreations, and Videolog. -

Then your answer is NO it is not a video from a source that is supported by WordPress.com and you have your answer.

To post such videos you either need to purchase a videopress upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ or you can upload them to Fileden or to youtube and then you can embed them into your WordPress.com blog.

You’re welcome. Note my answer had two options videopress is a paid upgrade and the second suggestion I made is free.
