facebook embeds no longer working
-
There seems to have been a change to Facebook that has stopped Facebook posts being embedded into WordPress.com posts. The only change I can see is that posts aren’t public anymore on Facebook, they now have a gear like icon with “shared with: anyone who can see this page. I’ve tried the direct URL, and formatting it as a shortcode on several different posts. e.g. [facebook url="https://www.facebook.com/PointingDC/posts/1594859184059313"]
But I get a white framed area for the post, but the post isn’t actually rendered in that space.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The thing about the Facebook Embeds is that the timeline and the update on Facebook needs to be public for it to appear properly onto your site.
Once you’ve copied the URL of the individual update, you can insert it the post editor on your WordPress.com site. This can be done without html, or you can format it with the shortcode as you’ve been using.
Just to be sure, I just checked with a public WordPress.com Facebook post on your site, and it showed up with this change:
[facebook url="https://www.facebook.com/WordPresscom/posts/10151875732603980"]
Please let me know if you hit any more snags!

Looks like it was a Facebook change to the page settings. I had my page set up to only display to the UK, Ireland and France, and all my page posts used to be public. At somepoint the country restriction changed the permissioning to the “shared with: anyone who can see your page”. Removing the country restriction which I didn’t really want to do has made them public again.
