Facebook feed

    Hi

I’d like to show the most recent comments on a Facebook community group on a wordpress.com blog. This could be in the blog or as a widget. Can anyone advise please?

    Thanks

    Matthew

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Short of copy/paste, I don’t think you can do this. I also caution against it, as many people want what’s on FB to stay on FB and not be reposted elsewhere without their specific permission. Unfortunately, FB doesn’t show you if someone has high privacy settings or not, so you have no way of knowing.

I know if you posted MY FB comments on your blog without permission I’d be furious. I wouldn’t defriend you, I’d stay on your list so I could expose what YOU had said.

It is possible using the RSS widget, however as mentioned above it is definitely best to ask permission of the facebook group administrator first. You will need to find the group ID which should be part of the URL. If the group uses a custom URL and you don’t see a number in it then you can click on their photo and will see something like the line below. The number after id= is what you need.

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?profile=1&id=123456789

You will now need to create your RSS feed URL for the widget. Add the ID for the group onto the end of this string and paste it into the first widget text box:

    http://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?format=atom10&id=

You can customise it, add a title and set how many posts to show. The final links should look something like:

    http://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?format=atom10&id=123456789

Those were supposed to be examples rather than clickable links, sorry!
