Facebook Icon doesn't show likes
-
Hello! This is the second time I’m writing to you. I have a problem with some of my posts. They don’t show anymore how many likes they received. The new posts are working properly, but the older ones don’t. I want to recover all the likes I’ve received.
I’m waiting for your answer. Thank you!
Oana

Hi there. This is due to the switch from http to https. WordPress.com does not keep a record of all shares made, but fetches that data from Facebook when a post loads. Since the switch to https, Facebook is only returning the share count for the https URL, and not the older shares from when we still used http.
Unfortunately this is something that Facebook needs to fix. When this issue first appeared staff did make contact with Facebook, and last I heard they were working with Facebook to fix it, but there’s no way to know how long it will take as WordPress.com really has no control over it.
Rest assured, though, those shares and likes aren’t gone. It’s just the stat that is no longer visible.

Hello
Did you changed your blog address, or the posts urls in any way since it stop working? This may cause a loss in your facebook data.

Thanks a lot, guys, for your answers! No, I didn’t change anything, as far as I know :D – I’m not good at all at “this technology”. :)
-
No, this isn’t anything you did. This is a known issue, but not something WordPress.com can fix as the fault is on Facebook’s side :)

Uhm, facebook… I understand now.
It’s not a vital issue, but it’s important particularly for those who use their blog as a portofolio, too.
Well, I have two options: I can start a war against facebook :)) or I wait and hope that someday it will fix it.
Anyway, I’m grateful that I understand now what’s going on. :) -
