Facebook integration not working

    I previously had a functioning facebook integration from WP ssntv.co.uk page to the facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Shropshire-and-Staffordshire-National-Trust-Volunteers-SSNTV-162055610512164 which I administer via user Russell Blake
    When I created a post today there was a message on the WP blog post settings tab saying that the connection to FB needed to be reconfirmed. I did this and saw in FB that the integration was active.
    I then logged out of WP and back in again, to see that the integration was disconnected. I selected to connect from the Tools menu and then went on to publish my WP post. It appeared that the FB integration would work as my account was listed in the checklist screen. However there is no post on my SSNTV facebook page. There are no error messages and the integration is still described there as active.
    Can you help me to check why this is not working; I have checked all the settings I know.

    I see an error regarding the access token validation. This means that even though you reconnected your site, Facebook retained the old connection information which doesn’t work anymore.

    To fix this you need to completely disconnect the site from Facebook and then connect it again. Here are the detailed instructions:

    1. Go to My Site > Tools > Marketing > Connections in your dashboard and click Disconnect next to the link to your Facebook page.

    2. Reload the page and confirm the link now says Connect, but don’t click that link yet.

    3. Log into your Facebook account. Then go to your Facebook Account Settings > Business Integrations (https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools).

    4. Remove the WordPress.com app by checking the box next to it and click Remove. (If there is no WordPress.com row, don’t worry, just skip this step). If you see a popup asking for confirmation, click the “Remove” button.

    Do not check the box to delete content created by WordPress.com. This will remove all previously publicized posts and there is no way to recover them.

    5. Go back to WordPress.com > My Site > Tools > Marketing > Connections and follow the instructions linked below to reconnect.

    Thanks, I thought that was what was happening but didn’t know how to fix it. These steps work!

    Bit silly that before doing this the FB side of the connection looks to be ok, so that there is nothing suggesting a need to remove the integration and set it up again. Whilst for whatever the reason in the background, at least WP messaged that the connection needed to be remade. Hence I’d previously only done half of what was required.

    It’s useful to remember that this is how authorization works between services and apps. So, if you encounter a similar issue on another platform make sure to completely revoke access. This is usually found in the security section of settings :)
