facebook like button and links in widgets
-
I am following the directions on the link below for adding Facebook icons for “like” and “share” to the end of a post. Everything works EXCEPT that the F icon is not showing up for the “share” icon. The link works, but there is no icon (so people have no clue what to do).
Link to Icon:
http://cdn.iconfinder.net/data/icons/Classy_Social_Media_Icons/16/facebook.pngI took the icon down from my blog since it looked silly with just the gray box and word “Facebook”
thanks!

The blog linked to your username is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog. This forum is only for those with free hosted wordpress.com blogs and our support docs do not apply to WordPress.org installs. You must post to this support forum http://wordpress.org/support/

How do I make it so that my name links to the blog and not my website?
Help please on the Facebook icon, thanks!

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register a blog it’s registered to that username account we are logged in under and to the email address which is our unique identifier. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/
Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.
Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located. This chage is not retroactive. Al comments you left previously will be linked to the first site and that cannot be changed.
P.S. There is no “www” in any wordpress.com URL.

Hi,
So I followed the directions above and the drop down was already set to my wordpress blog, so I am not sure why it is not showing up.I did notice that I had the “www” at the very bottom in account details, so maybe that is why it was not working.
Any advice on how to fix my original problem: The Facebook icon not showing up with the Share on Facebook, at the end of each post.
I am referring to this post which is closed.

I’m sorry I can’t help you with that. Hopefully, another Facebook user who has done this will chime in and help you.

Thanks for your help. I was hoping you would know since the post I was using was your post. It seems that URL where the Facebook icon was hosted, is no longer work.

You did not provide a complete URL for the blog ion question. If and only if, it’s a free hosted WordPress.com blog see here for Facebook integration > http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/
You can easily enable sharing buttons on your posts, pages and index pages.
Also note the “like” button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/
You can have both Facebook like & share buttons on your posts.

If you are not referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog then you are posting to the wrong support forum and ought to post to this one http://wordpress.org/support/
