Facebook like button NOT working on sidebar

Nothing works !! see above . Is the widget faulty or the theme does not work? Been trying for about 4 days now.
I’ve tried all of these links from my FB account these:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/307453576127998/;-( can you look at my widget and fix it? I have tried everything including pasting the FB code from FB for a like button into a text widget but then only the code shows!! Perhaps WP is not compatible with FB like buttons? On the sidebar it says Facebook like and has stuck an invisible box in white under, even when you make it black it just goes black!! This was not an issue with Google blogs.
In case you send me to the FB help doc on WP, it’s out of date as FB has changed its settings and screen navigation and so its out of date for your help.
