Facebook Like button vs. Share
-
Why did the Facebook Like button convert to a Share button on my posts? I’d rather keep it as a Like; readers are more inclined to “like” than “Share.”
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Susan,
There were some growing technical issues with the Like button that do not exist with the Share button. When we switched to using Facebook’s HTML5 buttons, the Share button is the service we can best support reliably and we decided to continue use that option but not the Like button.
While I’d agree with you, many readers will prefer to “Like” rather than “Share” — the idea behind sharing buttons on WordPress.com has always been to send that content to another social media stream, where side actions (eg. Facebook Likes, Twitter Favorites) can happen on that social media service, rather than the site itself.
This change is just bringing Facebook in line with the other services in our Sharing Button options, and keeping WordPress.com in line with Facebook’s standards for buttons as well.
