Facebook like counter on posts reset to zero
-
The Facebook like counter on each of my posts has been reset to 0.
Yesterday, everything was ok, but today when I logged in all posts had Facebook like counter reset to zero. My newest posts had 125likes, and the others had between 50-100 likes.
I have not modified anything and I do not know what happened.
The blog I need help with is simonacalu.wordpress.com.I would very much appreciate your help.

Hi there,
Are you still having trouble with this? We have been seeing issues with the “official” buttons that we’re looking to. In the meantime, you can switch your buttons to one of the other choices we have available here:

Hello,
Yes, my problem does still persist. For all my posts published before 14th of January the Facebook like counter on each of my posts has been reset to 0.
I am using the buttons available on the sharing setting section. The thing is that I get most of my traffic from Facebook, so the Facebook like button is the most important one for me.
I also observed different alerts in the code, but I do not know what they mean and if there is anything that needs to be fixed. Please, see below.
Thank you. I will very much appreciate your help.

I am using the buttons available on the sharing setting section.
Yep! We have several different styles of buttons that you can use.
We recently moved your site to secure HTTP, which means that your readers have more secure access to your site. However, Facebook hasn’t updated their algorithm to match this new standard. So Facebook counts these two URLs separately:
We’re able to ‘fix’ the counts on the other styles of buttons, but the “Official” buttons work a little differently than all of the rest. The Official buttons grab their counts directly from Facebook (and the other sharing services) so we can’t correct them to include the shares of your http and https URLs.
We’re currently reaching out to Facebook about updating their algorithm, but until that happens, switching the style of your buttons will fix this issue. You can do this here under “Button style”:

Let me know if I can help further.

Hi there – one of my posts had over 100 FB shares (I use the FB share button) but the number disappeared. I’ve just noticed that another post shares went down to 35 from 70. Any suggestions as how to fix this? Thank you very much.

@czechchickdiary – I’m happy to take a look if you’ll give me a link to the post your’e having trouble with.

Awesome, thank you so much! Here’s the link that had over 100 shares:
https://czechchickdiary.wordpress.com/2014/08/19/on-getting-published-and-being-a-nut/And here’s the link that had 70 shares and it’s now showing 35:

@truebluefly – I can take a look if you include a link to the post or posts you’re having trouble with.
@czechchickdiary – I was able to restore the Facebook share counts for this post:
https://czechchickdiary.wordpress.com/2014/08/19/on-getting-published-and-being-a-nut/
I did this by entering the URL starting with http (no s) here:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
After selecting “Debug”, I chose “Fetch new scrape information”.
This did not work for the other post you gave me a link to though. It sounds like the 70 shares may have been a math error while we were fixing the counts, since 70 is exactly two times 35.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
