facebook likes/shares disappeared

  hey guys,

  my facebook likes/shares disappeard. for example, one post had more than 7k likes, now there are just 3. another one had more than 1k, now there are just 600. I had this problem once (all likes were totally gone) but when I changed the button, all were back. but now this does not work.

  anyone knows more?

  Hi there! We recently updated our Facebook share buttons because we were counting some shares twice.

  Can you link me to a specific post that you’re seeing this happen on and the number you were seeing before?

  it had more than 7k.

  I checked out the other ones now, they even have less than yesterday. what is going on?

  All of the Facebook shares also disappeared on my blog about a day ago, does anyone have any answers to this yet?

  Hi @emranferoz,

  As Shawna mentioned, we made some adjustments to how we pulled sharing numbers from Facebook. In short, previously, we were summing the sharing numbers for both HTTP and HTTPS URLs. We’re no longer doing that as it was causing some duplicate counting issues. Now, we only report the sharing numbers attributed to HTTPS URLs. You can see an example at the following two URLs, which demonstrates what Facebook reports for both the HTTP version and HTTPS version of your post. We only display the latter number.

  The “fix” for this would need to come from Facebook. If you’re curious, I posted a bit longer explanation in this thread:

  In that post, I reference that it should be working again. We’ve since stopped summing the counts for good.
