  I was thinking it may just be easier to purchase another theme which has a grid format as functionality.

  I do think a theme switch will make things easier. Note CSS is theme specific, so changing themes will mean you’ll have to re-do some of that work. I think that’s the right call, I just wanted to make sure you have all the info you need to decide.

  What do you think of this one do you think it will cater for everything I need with respect to everything we’ve discussed ?

  It’s not possible to use this theme on WordPress.com. That theme is designed for a self-hosted WordPress site.
