Facebook not showing featured image or any image for that matter

  I post a “photo of day”. As of 3 days ago Facebook not showing images. I used to upload a featured image and noticed that Facebook stopped showing it and just showed our header for the blog. As an experiment I stopped uploading a featured image before I published and Facebook then posted my “photo of the day”. I have been doing that successfully for a couple of months. 3 days ago Facebook stopped showing my photo and again went back to showing my header. Please help. What can I do?

  Hi there,

  Facebook can sometimes be a bit finicky or unpredictable when it chooses what photo to display. For the best results, I’d recommend setting a featured image on your posts. If the featured image is larger than 200×200 pixels, we’ll send that to Facebook and that should be the image that’s used there.

  However, there’s always a chance that Facebook will ignore the image we send them and grab a different one from the post. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do when Facebook does that. For example, I noticed that Facebook used your header image in this recent post you published:

  That happened even though WordPress.com sent the image from your post. You can see what we send to Facebook using their debugger:

  I hope this helps explain what’s going on! Again, I’d recommend using a large featured image for each post, but unfortunately sometimes Facebook doesn’t pay attention even then. In that case, you might prefer manually sharing the posts on Facebook so you can make sure the correct image is posted there.
