Facebook page post thumbnail links to youtube instead of acutal wordpress post

I recently started a music blog: http://snaresfavorites.wordpress.com and connected it to a facebook page to autopost on that facebook page. but everytime I embedded a youtube video with “[youtube=…youtubeurl…] in my post, the facebook post just shows the youtube video as thumbnail and starts playing the video when i click on it. So people who jut follow my facebook page will usually click on the thumbnail of the post rather than on the wordpress link. So a ot of people wont read the post and jsut think I’d post just the songs in form of youtube videos? is there any chacne that I can change the facebook thumbnail to link to the wordpress post instead of the youtube video?

Hi there. Unfortunately this is controlled by Facebook. WordPress suggests to Facebook what image to use for the thumbnail but Facebook’s software makes the final determination. Uploading a featured image (if your theme supports it) in addition to embedding the video might trick Facebook into using the image instead, but there’s no sure way to tell. The other option is of course to manually post your link on Facebook and then removing the thumbnail from the preview.

I think another option would to repost the text of the wordpress post on the facebook page. I know that I can change the text to “custom” and copy the wordpress post in there so that he publicizes it on the facebook page, too instead of jsut posting the post title and link. But would thre be any chance to automize this?

The only auto-posting to Facebook is via Publicize and by default it only uses the post title and shortlink. If you want to include more info in the Publicize post you’ll have to copy it in there manually every time, I’m afraid.
