Facebook Pixel

    My WordPress.com site does not allow Facebook pixel which is a big missed opportunity for me as Facebook has become the primary source of my business.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    A volunteer just pointed me towards this thread of yours. If you look at the Facebook pixel code, you’ll notice there is a part of the code marked “noScript”. That part of the code should not be stripped out if you add it to a text widget on your site, so the Facebook Pixel should work if you add it that way.

    Hi and thanks for your reply.

    I haven’t tried it yet but I have since heard that Facebook pixel does not work with wordpress.com … only wordpress.org.

    What is your understanding of this?

    Many thanks

  • Based on the last time I’ve seen the Facebook Pixel code, that code did contain an option that will work here. If you can paste the code you received from Facebook here for me, I can check if that is still the case.

    Click the Code button above the text box in the forum, paste the code, and then click the Code button again.

    <!-- Facebook Pixel Code -->

    <script>

    !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s)

    {if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?

    n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};

    if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';

    n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;

    t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];

    s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window,document,'script',

    'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js');

    fbq('init', '404117449754504');

    fbq('track', 'PageView');

    </script>

    <noscript>

    <img height="1" width="1"

    src="https://www.facebook.com/tr?id=404117449754504&ev=PageView

    &noscript=1"/>

    </noscript>

    <!-- End Facebook Pixel Code -->
  • Thank you. That code will work if you add it to a text widget. Everything between the script tags will be deleted, but the noscript section will remain and Facebook will be able to track it, provided you add it in a widget area that’s visible on all pages on your site, like a footer widget.

    Thanks for your help.

    Are you saying to copy and paste the whole code in and it will automatically delete those parts of it that are not needed?

    I hope so as that is what I’ve done. :D

    Also, Facebook is telling me: “We’re receiving activity from your Facebook pixel. Next: Properly install at least two event codes to track and optimise for conversions ”

    Any thoughts

  • That message from Facebook means the tracking pixel is working.

    Can you point me to their instructions regarding the event codes? I don’t use Facebook Pixel myself, so I don’t know exactly how it works on their end. If I can see their instructions I’ll be able to tell you if it’s possible to do here or not.

  • Thank you for those instructions. Based on that, the event codes cannot be added here. They fall within the “script” section of the code that doesn’t work on WordPress.com and which is deleted automatically. There is no way to add that code to the “noscript” section instead.

    But I see we have an open feature request for this, and I’ll add your request to it as well.

    Thanks for your help.
    One more thing… what would the event codes have allowed me to do and what does the functionality that I do seem to have allow me to do?

    When I understand this I will happily add a request to have the function included but at the moment I’m not sure either what I have or what I’m missing. Does the functionality I have allow the pixel to find my subscribers on Facebook?

  • That question is better to ask to Facebook support. I don’t know what their tracking code does or how it works. I know the workaround for adding the tracking pixel to WordPress.com, but that’s it :)

    How do I get Certificate Signing Request? I have purchased the SSL from GoDaddy but need the CSR code to enter.

  • For what site is this? WordPress.com sites all have SSL enabled by default, and it’s not possible to add a certificate purchased at GoDaddy to a site hosted on WordPress.com.

    If you have a self-hosted site you’ll need to ask your hosting provider how to connect your SSL certificate. We’re not able to help with sites not on our servers.

    Is hit already enabled?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I think I am hosted on wordpress.com Can you verify this?

  • walkinginspirit.co.uk is hosted with us and already has SSL enabled, yes. All sites hosted on WordPress.com gets SSL automatically and for free.

    OK thank you.

    Back to Godaddy for refund then
