Facebook plugin rarely succeeds in publishing blogpost pictures to Facebook

    Hi,

    I have set up a Facebook Page, to which the WordPress Facebook plugin auto-publishes all blogposts.

    The text and heading comes through to FB successfully every time. However the pics only make it through about 10% of the time. Instead the facebook post displays either a WordPress Gravatar image, or nothing.

    I have tried
    – reconnecting on my WP admin page
    – removing the OAuth authorization and then re-establishing it
    – logging out of everything, clearing caches, and then logging back in

    But nothing so far has worked.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    We have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.

    Hi timethief

    those links are great info – thanks. I will read through them and try the suggestions included.

    One question, those link mention “thumbnails” a lot in the context of Facebook posts. Do I need to somehow provide thumbnails for Facebook to extract ? I believed they could work with full-size images from the WP posts, but maybe not.
