Facebook Post Links
-
Hello,
When creating a Facebook post and inserting a link from my website, the thumbnail image pulled is a poorly cropped version of the company logo instead of the feature image (or any other image) from the post. When I put the link into the sharing debugger, it shows the feature image is being pulled, and when creating the post it shows the correct image being pulled, but once you hit post and it updates on the Facebook page, the thumbnail showing is the poorly cropped thumbnail image of the company logo.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance!

Hello,
If there aren’t any images, Facebook may incorrectly fetch an image from elsewhere on your site. The only way to override it is to use a featured image so that it gets fetched instead.
I believe this article will be helpful.
It explains the main errors related to featured images on Facebook and how to fix them.

Hello Juline,
Appreciate the response, I have already reviewed those two pages…
There ARE photos for FB to pull…. Feature images and often other images within the publications are all there, which is why an image is shown as being pulled when putting together the FB post.
After the FB post is posted, it defaults to the logo.
Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Hi there!
We are unable to help because we don’t host your site directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.
When you share a post on Facebook, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags (like
og:image, etc.) in the head to build a complete post preview with an image, title, description, etc.You can see what Facebook sees by entering one of your posts’ URLs in Facebook Debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
Looking at your site’s page source, it doesn’t appear you are using anything to set Open Graph meta tags, so Facebook will choose an image at random to use when you share a post. Plugins like Jetpack and Yoast SEO will create those tags for you, so you should look into one of those so your post will show the correct images when shared.
I hope this points you in the right direction.

It does thank you. My own research started leading me down that path and it looks like this is going to be the solution. I do not work directly with the website and was unaware of the plugins, will look at that.
Thank you again for the help!
Be well everyone!
