Facebook post not linking back to blog

Previously, I’m sure the Facebook post would link back to my WordPress Blog from the Home page. Now, the post appears just as any other post and unless the photo is clicked on, there is no way for the viewer to know it is a WordPress blog page, driving no more readers to my site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – Is your Facebook page public, such that I could take a look at it? If not, can you please make a screenshot of how your WordPress.com posts appear on Facebook?

Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

I’ve uploaded a snip of how the image appears on my timeline and also another showing the image once it is clicked on. The link on this page does link back to my wordpress site, but many people won’t bother to open the image with the larger image that now appears on the timeline. Thanks for your help. The clickable link to wordpress on the timeline only goes to the generic wordpress site.

  • Hi there – Thank you for the details. First of all, I want to sincerely apologize to you — while I was testing this, I accidentally published a duplicate of your latest post to your blog instead of to my test blog. I’m so very sorry about that. Please delete those mentions from your social media feeds.

In better news, I was able to reproduce this problem. It looks like Facebook is doing this with posts that have an image and not very much text. So, if you have the exact same post, but with a few paragraphs of text instead of a few lines, the post publishes normally on Facebook. I’ve let our team know about this to see if there’s anything we can do on our end about how Facebook is displaying these posts.
