Facebook post photos not appearing on my news feed

    As the title suggests. I have historically posted my WordPress blog posts on my Facebook news feed to have the post photo come up with the link. Lately, Facebook has decided that it only wants to post the text without the post photo. This has devastated my traffic as it makes it less desirable to click on.

    I have noticed that is it only not viewable through the Android Facebook app. People with I phones and on Android through a browser can still see it.

    I have messaged WordPress and they have flippantly dismissed it as a Facebook problem but I have changed every setting I can, reinstalled the app, cleared the cache and storage and still nothing.

    This needs to be resolved, fast.

    Thank you for reaching out to us. It seems that you were already in contact with the Jetpack mobile app team, which is another division of WordPress.com support. They are absolutely correct in mentioning that the issue you’re facing is on Facebook’s side.

    When you share a post on Facebook or when Jetpack Social publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head section. These tags help Facebook create a complete post preview, including an image, title, description, and more. Jetpack automatically generates these Open Graph meta tags for you.

    If you check your page source, you’ll see that we have indeed set this image in the Open Graph tags.

    Jetpack provides several options to Facebook, including the Featured Image or Post thumbnail of your post, as well as any other images found within the post. However, it ultimately depends on Facebook to decide which image they will display. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control.

    The problem I have with this answer is that it isn’t anything to do with my Facebook settings as it’s across other Android users Facebook app too.

    this was working perfectly the other day and has now stopped. Something has changed.

    The problem I have with this answer is that it isn’t anything to do with my Facebook settings as it’s across other Android users Facebook app too.

    This may not be an issue with the settings you are using within the Facebook app, but instead an issue with the code (a bug) itself.

    Just to be sure we fully understand, this is an issue when viewing your shared post in the Facebook Android app only? The post image does show when viewed in the Facebook app on iOS or if you view Facebook.com directly in the browser?

    As a test I tried sharing your most recent blog post on my test account, and I was able to see the image embedded without issue:

    If the issue is happening everywhere (iOS, Android, and browser) then that can sometimes indicate an issue on our end. But if the issue is in one Facebook app only (Android) that indicates an issue with the app itself, and is something that should be reported to Facebook directly.
