Facebook preview.
-
Hi guys, we cannot get the preview on facebook to appear correctly when sharing our site link. It does work for individual blog posts.
The site is: https://thepostgradchroniclessite.wordpress.com/
In Facebook it was showing a blank picture, the title ‘Chronicle’ and a generic description. I have sorted the picture now, but for all I try, I cannot get facebook to grab the og:title and og:description field correctly, despite the ‘site title’ and ‘description’ fields being correctly entered in wordpress.com. And yes, the site has been rune through the FB debugger a number of times.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not every theme has featured images; only some do. Your theme does have them https://wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/
We have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.

As noted – I have the picture sorted, it is the site name and description that remain incorrect. The description in particular states ‘this is just a short excerpt about your blog.’

Hi there,
It appears you had a posts page specified in the static front page settings, and that was confusing Facebook as it was looking for a static front page as a result and couldn’t find one at the main URL. That caused it to redirect to the URL for the posts page.
I’ve updated that setting in the Customizer and ran your site through the debugger again, and everything should be working now.
