Facebook publizing wrong image from WordPress Post

    Sharing Facebook post, and it only has one image available. It is picking a random picture from my sidebar.,

    This has been mentioned before – it is a Facebook issue. WordPress just pass the URL to FaceBook and cannot control which image it picks.

    kay, will it eventually fix itself? or should I stop publicizing till it resolves?

    This is definitely a Facebook issue (and at times – Google + also.) It is also not isolated to WordPress users. While you don’t *have* to show images with every post, images can make your social media posts more attractive and help encourage others to click on the post.

    Someone else may have another solution but my option was to resize images as needed, save to a folder on my computer and then manually program all social media posts vs. using the automatic tie in for Facebook. While you can now schedule posts directly on Facebook I’ve found using Hootsuite (or a similar program) helpful. I’m able to write the post, add the link and select the social media channel(s) I want it to appear on. It gives a preview then for Facebook (and Google+). For those that the images are not appearing or incorrect you can then hide the thumbnail and upload the image you prefer. You can schedule your posts in advance and they are pushed to Facebook (and any others) automatically at the time you select.

    The issue with Facebook is unlikely to be resolved soon as it has been going on for some time now with no response from them whatsoever. By not linking your content through social media though you would be lowering your potential audience which isn’t generally desired.

    Yes, it’s a Facebook issue, but I think it’s pulling the image from your sidebar because the size of that image is 558×475, which closely matches Facebook image requirements. I had issues like that before and when I make my featured images fit 560 pixels wide x 293 pixels high, it seems to resolve the issue.
