Facebook refresh and unmoving interface
-
I’m having two issues, one that I’ve complained about many times in the past and one that’s been going on for a while now but I’ve had more important things to deal with outside of the site, which is bwspotlight.com.
The recurring problem is that the interface is telling me I need to refresh the connection with Facebook. I click the button but outside of a blank tab opening for a few seconds nothing changes and the post goes to Facebook just fine.
The recent issue is that for some reason I can’t put the “publish” section of the WP Admin editor to go to the bottom of the page, past the tags and category sections. I move it but when I post or otherwise refresh the page they’re all back where they were.
The odd thing is I’m having none of these problems at the other blog I host at WordPress.com (both use .com, not an outside site so it isn’t that). Why is the one I do daily, as opposed to the one I do weekly, giving me grief?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

bwspotlight.com (aka bwmedia.wordpress.com) is where this is happening. The site this isn’t happening to is clutterreport.wordpress.com, for comparison.
I’m not losing the Facebook connection, but the thing keeps telling me I am. It’s a problem I’ve had in the past and although it’s cleared up now (at least when I last looked) it does keep happening. The admin widget issue is still happening though, and has been for quite some time. I just haven’t been able to address it due to personal life issues.

So I did some testing and finally figured out that it’s your theme moving things around. It’s a long-retired theme, too, so I’m not sure whether it’s something a developer would fix, but hopefully knowing that’s the issue will help.
Troubleshooting the dropping connection will be a bit trickier since I don’t want to use your site for testing, but tell me what steps you’re using to duplicate this error, and we’ll try it on our side.

I’m not sure I want to change my theme…again…so I guess I’m stuck with that problem. Thank you anyway.
As for the fake dropped connection, I wish I knew. I just log in and it happens, and then when it feels like it it stops. Maybe the whole theme interface is just trolling me? :)

You know, it could be. This really is a very old theme.
But when you say you just log in and it happens:
– are you logging in via /wp-admin or wordpress.com ?
– does the message pop up immediately, or when you start a new post? Or when you publish a post?
-
The WP Admin. The last time I used the new interface there were features missing, like part of the Zemanta support.
When I start a new post, since it’s in the “Publicize” part. Even after I publish or (usually) schedule a post it will be there, yet Facebook has is up just fine.
-
Okay, I tried logging in as you and starting a new post, and I did not see that message. Does it only happen after or during publishing?
-
-
Before, when I open the “add new post” thing. When I scroll down it will be right there.
-
I usually use Chrome but I did check it on Firefox once and it was still doing that. Now I’m getting some issue with Google+, but I haven’t checked to see if that’s universal since when I try to reconnect I actually get some message that there’s a problem.
-
@bwmedia oddly I can’t seem to duplicate this on your account, regardless of browser. :( Something must be interfering there. I go to your dashboard and add a new post, and if I scroll down all of the publicize settings are there and looking fine.
If you use a Chrome incognito window does it happen there?
Or if you use another computer?
What if you use wordpress.com/post ?
-
I’ve never used it incognito so I couldn’t tell you. It has happened on my laptop when I tried it one time. I don’t usually use the other interface (except for quick changes like new embeds for videos) so I couldn’t tell you about that.
I can’t make it happen either because I don’t know what causes it. It happens then it goes away. The exception is that time nobody on WordPress.com could connect to Tumblr because of some issue between the two hosts, which you guys eventually resolved. Hopefully you can catch it when it actually happens and then figure things out. I’ll let you know if it does.

I’ll try it, My big concern is that the link posts to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Google+. I get worried when messages come up.
