Facebook saying my content is unacceptable to share

  • Unknown's avatar

I share to Facebook manually, not via the Publicise feature.

Twice now I have had posts rejected by Facebook as being unacceptable. I have contacted Facebook and received no response.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If I go to Facebook, I can post the link as per normal in Facebook.

What worries me is that the Facebook “error” says my content “has been previously flagged as ” and some descriptive words for unacceptable. I am worried this may somehow lead to my WordPress site being “flagged” in some way.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, @airodyssey, but thanks for trying. I haven’t seen this problem mentioned anywhere at all previously. If it happens again I will grab a screen snap and pop it somewhere for people to see.

I should explain a bit I guess. This isn’t happening on every post I try to share. That other thread seemed like it was a specific WP/FB interface problem. I’ve just got a feeling this isn’t so much an interface problem as something else.

When everyone else was having FB problems, I was fine, so I am more concerned that in this case the message is actually being generated by someone actually doing what the error implies has been done, if you see what I mean.

Could you give us a link to one of the posts you had trouble sharing? We might be able to find some keywords that FB has flagged or something.

I’m having the same issues. Unable to connect to facebook… then I connect, and then it says its not connected.

This one was this morning’s http://teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com/2011/04/10/i-feel-brittle/

    The other one was: http://teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/who-am-i-to-criticise/

The two posts in between were fine. We thoughts the names of religions in the one listed second above may have triggered something, but in today’s I am at a loss.

@dsindelar – that isn’t the same problem – I’m not having a connection problem – I’m connected. Airodessy’s link above may assist you, that issue is discussed there, I believe.

I wouldn’t put it past Facebook to have censored it because of the political remark about being in the interests of one’s country. FB has a very cozy relationship with authoritarian and censorious governments. But that’s just a supposition. I have successfully posted this one to my Wall, but then I’m in Canada:

Your best bet is to contact FB directly and ask. Don’t hold your breath waiting for an answer, but do ask.

I’m in Australia, and I did contact FB. Not holding my breath, as you suggest: I’ve still not received a response from them from a query I lodged in February when I was in Qatar!

Thanks for your assistance. Raincoaster, what you say may well be 100% right I think, as WP and FB are both in the USA. I may just stop using the Share button and just post the link directly into FB, where I have no problem – maybe when I do that, they know I am in Australia?

Yes, they could find out by your IP. Then again it may be Qatar who asked them to censor.

I don’t think this has ANYTHING to do with WP.com. I’ve never seen them comply with this kind of request to censor. I think it’s a Facebook thing.

Oh, I think it is FB too. It was very clearly a FB message. I had no doubt it ws FB.

Funnily enough they may not know I am in Australia from my IP, as it seems my ISP routes them offshore (mostly Asia, I believe). I once tried to vote in something online which was for Australians only and it banned me as not having an Australian IP address. I wasn’t the only one. That’s how we found out we were routed offshore. Weird, huh?
