From your Dashboard click on Settings and then on Sharing. You’ll see available services. Drag any that you want down to Enabled Services and then check off any of the options by Share this on and the share buttons will appear.

I don’t want any sharing buttons active on my site. I’ve gone to settings>sharing and got everything turned off. But still the ‘like’ button is showing, as are the login via twitter and facebook buttons. I have noticed that when I have none of the boxes ticked on ‘show buttons on…’ and save changes, it always seems to revert to having ‘posts’ and ‘pages’ ticked. Does this mean that I CAN’T turn them off? I’m using a theme called ‘Ocean Mist’. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I’ve just found out how to turn off ‘like’… I have to do it on each individual post. Is there any way to do this globally?

The steps I gave you will turn it off for any new posts. For old posts you need to go back and turn it off post by post I’m afraid.

Thanks. I’ve now created new posts and the ‘show likes on the post’ button is no longer ticked as default.

Under the ‘leave a reply’ field, the log on icons for twitter and facebook appear. I really don’t want these, I only want people to be able to log in with WordPress. How do I turn these off? In fact, the only people who will see this site will already be logged in so they are all superfluous.

You can’t turn off the ability to login via Facebook or Twitter. If you don’t want anyone but certain people to see your blog you can go to your Dashboard, then Privacy and select the ‘I would like my blog to be private’ option. Then you can invite the people you want to see your blog.

Thanks for your reply. I have already set my blog to be private so my point is: only the people who are already logged in can leave a comment (ie everyone viewing the post) so there’s no point in asking them to log in as they all already would be, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to see it in the first place! It’s just a neatness thing!! I don’t like unnecessary clutter, especially if it isn’t even useful clutter.

We users cannot remove those 2 Facebook and Twitter log-in buttons in comment boxes. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/06/07/post-comments-twitter-facebook/
