Facebook share button using old data
-
I’ve put the Facebook “share” button on my page, but when clicked it brings up the text that was on the page a week ago, not the text currently on the screen. (I have modified it recently.) How can I rectify please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hi,
Looks like you have linked your blog to Facebook and enabled Facebook sharing. This enables Facebook share buttons for each post. Hence when people click on the share button it shares your home page which was created on 24th April.
I guess you are interested in enabling a Facebook like button that would link to your Facebook page or so?On WordPress.com there are multiple ways to connect to Facebook. These are explained elaborately in the support document here.
Let us know if it helps.

Thanks simplysaru. We don’t have a Facebook page (just a group) and I’m not trying to link to that. I thought with a share button, readers could click it and share my blog on their FB timeline. This is working ok for two pages of my blog, but on the other two, it’s linking to the original text from 24th April, not the edited (updated) text from today. Maybe if I delete the whole post and start again it might work?

Try checking the sharing from a different Facebook account to see if the issue persists for the specific posts. If it still does then, try disconnecting the sharing with Facebook and reconnecting the same and see if that starts sharing the updated page. The new text is not getting updated because of caching. This is a temporary problem. I am not sure if the cache need to be updated from WordPress end or if it is from Facebook end. That said, the cache issues are temporary and these issues will resolve as soon as the cache is cleared on the server end.
Let us know how it goes.
