facebook share buttons disappearing
-
Hello, I’ve had this prob before but currently (using FF) the fb share buttons disappear from posts after a couple of days so that only the first couple of days posts show them. That is on the front page. Heading to the actual article page they show there just not on the front page. This is envirowatchrangitikei.wordpress.com
Curiously for the 1st of July only one of several posts has a FB share button. The rest don’t. Earlier posts as outlined, no button. Not happening with the other buttons only FB.Thanks in advance

Hi there,
I can see Facebook share buttons on all posts on your front page. I also use Firefox.
So the issue is not with your site or with Firefox.
The issue is with your internet connection timing out before the buttons finish loading sometimes.
It currently uses around 21.93 MB of data for your front page to download. That is massive. On my end it took over two minutes for everything on the front page to finish loading, and while I don’t have the fastest internet available, I can stream in HD on my connection so it’s not slow.
The cause of this is the amount of content you’re trying to show on the front page: You have over a 100 pages linked in your site menu, multiple Youtube videos embedded in the sidebar, multiple Recent Posts widgets (one of them displaying 25 posts), multiple gallery widgets, multiple follow buttons and follow blog widgets, besides the ten most recent posts and six featured posts loading on the page.
With this much content that needs to load elements are going to time out if there’s even the slightest hiccup in your internet connection, and for elements like the sharing buttons and embedded videos that aren’t hosted on our servers but are being embedded from somewhere else, the risk of this happening is greatest.
The only way to prevent this, is to trim down the amount of information you have on the front page.
Get rid of all the duplicate widgets, and reduce the number of other widgets you have – consider rotating your gallery and video widgets, for example, instead of having all of them visible all the time, and get rid of superfluous widgets like the Search widget (your theme has a search option already built in and visible in the menu), the WordPress.com follow button (all WordPress.com sites display a follow button in the bottom-left corner by default), and you don’t really need both a categories (you have two) and an archive widget. And consider making an index page for your site where you can list all your pages, rather than listing every page in the site menu
This should make it less likely for timeouts to happen while your site is loading, and will also make your site load faster, and use less bandwidth for your site visitors, especially those visiting your site via slower mobile networks and with limited data available.
