Facebook share number

    Hello,

I am a little lost here. Could somebody please explain to me how I can make the number of shares for Facebook visible – explanation should be as simple as possible as I have been the most basic computer user until yesterday…. many thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. I quickly checked your latest post and it is visible to me. The latest post shows 23 interactions. Note, you can only see this on the sharing button at the end of your posts, not the Facebook icon in your sidebar. That number also reflects not only shares, but also comments and likes on Facebook.

Hi kokkieh, thank you for your reply. I have fixed the issue in the meantime…but now that I have 1k+ shares, is there a way to see how many exact shares there are? many thanks

  • The only place I can think of where you can get more detailed information on shares is from the blog stats page here: http://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog_shares

However, according to the relevant support document that also doesn’t give complete statistics on Facebook shares: http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/#share-stats

I don’t know if there’s another place where you can view these numbers.

  • From the stats page:

Just a note: we don’t count shares from ‘official’ buttons, just the standard share links. These numbers may not match the Sharing buttons or stats provided by the Sharing Services themselves, because we can only count shares that happen on WordPress.com

Thank you..ghats what I thought..so the 1K+ is all to shares likes and comments on FB together basically? It could be 10 shares and the rest likes and comments on some bodies page?

  • That’s how I understand it, yes. The number on the share button comes from Facebook itself and isn’t tracked by WordPress.
