Facebook share numbers disappeared

i edited my post to change a word and now the Facebook shares -252- have disappeared

Did you change the post URL? That is usually the cause of the share number disappearing. Facebook tracks that stuff via URL, so if you change the URL, it thinks the post has not been shared at all.

That’s entirely possible since I pretty much don’t know what I’m doing. If that is what happened is there a way to change it back? Thank you for your time and help.

If you change it back to what it was, the share numbers should return.

Did you copy that link from the post itself? Or from somewhere it had been shared on Facebook? I’d like to find out the exact link that you know has been shared on facebook.

Okay, so the issue is probably that the URL you had publicized previously is:
And the current URL is:
https://marlenekfwordpresscom.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/in-other-breaking-news-2/
So, something happened to cause the URL to change. Looking in your posts, I see two different posts with those URLs. The original URL version appears to be in the trash and the published version is using the “in-other-breaking-news-2”

You could try switching the url of the published one back to the original url. That may work, though it might not work instantly.
Or, you could just chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Look for the “edit” button in between the URL and the “shortlink” buttons at the top.

I have fixed it for you. And, as you can see, the share numbers are back.

Omg. I have no idea how you did that but I’m beyond grateful. Do you do this as a volunteer thing?
