Facebook "shares" count confusion
-
At the bottom of posts, there are the “share this” buttons. One one of my posts (http://mindrenewers.com/2012/03/13/omg-and-other-ways-christians-take-gods-name-in-vain/), the Facebook button a few days ago showed 169. I assumed that meant it had been shared 169 times by people on Facebook.
Today, it shows 70. I doubt 99 people deleted their link to it in a few days. :)
In my stats page, under the shares stats, it shows the post has been shared on Facebook 23 times.
So is it 23, 70, or 169? Is there a time threshold after which old shares drop out of the count? Does anyone know?
The number 23 on the shares stats is a hyper-link, and I clicked on it, wondering if it would give me a hint as to what is happening, but it seems to be sort of a dead link.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Same thing is happening to me. A few days ago the Facebook shares had all disappeared (# of shares for all my posts were reset to zero), and yesterday I noticed that they reappeared, only in significantly lower numbers. Maybe they are still working on this.

@jongleason
Your issue is different and yet I believe it’s reasonable to believe it could be related. That’s why I suggest that you may want to post into that thread as well. -

I may be wrong as it may not be related but that thread is tagged for Staff and being monitored by them.
