Facebook shares dissapeared

Hi there,
Facebook deprecated some portions of their API today, including the method we used to get and display these share counts on these styled buttons. If you’d like to continue displaying those share counts on your site you’ll need to use the official buttons in Settings > Sharing. You can change the dropdown from Icon + text to Official Buttons.

Hello. Thank you for your answer. I have changed those settings as you recommended, however, it is still not working. What else can it be done in that case? I would really like to have my shares back.

Hello again. I have just shared my blog page to Facebook ( 1 minute ago) to check if is working, but unfortunately, something is wrong. This share is not appearing on my website at all.

I am also experiencing the same issue…the number that shows how many times my posts have been shared on Facebook has disappeared. I also shared a few times to FB to see if it works now, and still this number does not reflect the shares to Facebook at the bottom of the blog post.

Hey idalinka, now I have followed the instructions from stat who appears to be staff. This has restored all my Facebook shares. I reshapes again on Facebook just to check that it works and the styled button for Facebook is now working…all the best!

My Facebook shares are still not visible, moreover, new shares are not appearing either. It looks like the Facebook share button on my website is not collecting any data. Please help

this is Beattie, responded to your query yesterday… :) did you see this response from fstat who is staff? I followed his instructions, and this restored my Facebook share button (what he calls styled buttons) …I post it below:

@idalinka, Facebook no longer provides a sharing count for those buttons. The button never collected any data about shares on your site. Instead, it fetched that information directly from Facebook each time someone opened a particular post. But Facebook no longer gives that information, so we can no longer show it.
The only place where Facebook still provides that information is if we use the official buttons.

I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE SETTINGS TO OFFICIAL BUTTONS, THAT IS MY POINT. I HAVE SEEN POST FROM STAFF MEMBER – FSTAT. AFTER CHANGING THOSE SETTINGS, MY SHARES ARE STILL NOT VISIBLE. Is there anyone who can fix this for me please?

Please try the following:
– Clear your browser cache:
– Follow the steps outlined by fstat
you’ll need to use the official buttons in Settings > Sharing. You can change the dropdown from Icon + text to Official Buttons.
– Grab a screen shot of what you see on the site. Upload it here with a third party link like snag.gy or droplr

Oh, thank you, that screenshot is helpful.
It looks like you’ve disabled all social icons on your posts, actually. Can you put a check in the box for posts to see if that helps? Save the changes then view the site, and clear cache if necessary. If you have a site caching plugin, please be sure to clear that as well.
You may also need to enable social icons for the posts individually, but try the global site setting first.

It doesn not matter whether I check in the box for posts or not. I am using SumoMe plugin for sharing buttons, not the ones included automatically with wordpress. I have tried (of course) to check in the boxes of posts and pages to see if that makes any difference, but it does not. I have cleared cache already. I think I am just going to give up. My Printerest shares are still visible, it is merely just the Facebook shares which have dissapeared. Very strange

I am using SumoMe plugin for sharing buttons, not the ones included automatically with wordpress.
Ah! We’ve been troubleshooting our sharing buttons :) For SumoMe support, can you please contact them?
