Facebook shares on each of my posts dramatically decreasing – is there a prob?

I know the changes with how the Facebook Share feature works, and in some cases doesn’t work, is incredibly frustrating. I also get why the uncertainty around the situation makes everything even harder to deal with.
That having been said, I want to stress the lack of concrete details is not a result of us withholding information. Since a solution depends on the work of a third-party company, we have no way of knowing when the problem will be resolved. We also can’t be sure that the final resolution will be to your satisfaction. While it’s tempting to give you a timeline and hope we are able to meet it, that’s not how we work.
I’m sure that’s not a satisfying answer, but it’s the best we can do. Organizing a joint complaint is absolutely within your rights. Whether you choose to do that or not, we will continue to work toward a solution and post an update to this thread when we have more information.

Thanks for understanding – is very appreciated – and is understood that as the problem is with Facebook there is little you can do, but as a WordPress member, I think ‘sitting tight’ without any real understanding of what the problem is or what the dialogue is, isn’t really fair. I don’t think anyone presumes that we’re deliberately being kept in the dark, but I think we certainly feel that way as we have such little information to go on.
Can you, as requested above, please supply both a press and complaints contact?

I have not personally spoken with anyone at Facebook about this issue, but our developers have been in contact with their developers. When I have an update, I will share it here.

In one of those FB threads you posted, (https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/780222738729069/?search_id), an FB engineer has said there is a ‘fix ready’ for this problem. Is this the same information you’ve had relayed?
Also, in the second thread (https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/465724990257352/?search_id), an FB engineer has said that this problem is not the same as the one they’re discussing within that bug thread?

Thanks for being so vigilant about this Zeena. The fix that is mentioned in that thread will improve the accuracy of share counts for some users on some sites, but it will not address the http/https issue which is the core of your concern.
As Jeremey and I have explained, we are hopeful that Facebook updates the way they see http/https URLs, but this isn’t something that our developers have any control over.
I’m going to close this thread, but if there are any major updates I’ll post them.
