  Whenever I try to share the homepage of my blog on Facebook, the article title shows up as ‘blog’ and the description says something to the effect of ‘This is just a brief excerpt about your blog.’ How do I change that, and modify what comes up automatically when sharing the homepage?

  Hi there,

  this happens when facebook didn’t indexed your site yet, but you can force it to happen at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ .

  Add your address on text input and click “Fetch new Scrape Information”. You’ll see a preview at the end of this page and may need to fetch it some times to force this update.
